This refreshing Grilled Peach Salsa is a sweet and savory homemade condiment for burgers, fish, chips, and more.
I used to hate the flavor and texture of salsa, especially if it contained cilantro. But since I’ve grown up, I’ve come to love the juicy, flavorful condiment for what it is.
And though I usually make my old-standby Pico de Gallo recipe, when peaches are in season, I can’t resist turning them into a fresh and fruity summer salsa.
How to Make Grilled Peach Salsa
If you haven’t grilled peaches before, prepare to be amazed. A slight char on the fruit brings them to an entirely new flavor realm. They become smoky, sweet and savory. Even the texture softens up a bit. In fact, this is a great recipe to use peaches that are not quite ripe yet. The heat from the grill helps bring out their natural juices.
You’ll want to use a thin layer of cooking oil to grill the fruit. Otherwise, it may stick.
Here’s what I put into this sweet and smoky grilled salsa:
- Peaches. Slice the fruit into quarters before grilling. The more surface area you have, the more char you can get!
- Red onion. If you don’t like the sharp flavor of red onion, soak the diced onion in ice water for about 10 minutes to remove some of the bitey-ness.
- Tomato. This is a must for me in the summer. It’s naturally juicy and sweet.
- Jalapeño. Remove the seeds to cut back on the spice level in your salsa.
- Cilantro. If you’re like I used to be and can’t stand the stuff, you can swap it out for parsley or basil.
- Lime juice. Feel free to use lemon or orange juice if that’s what’s on hand.

Grilled Peach Salsa
This fruity and zesty Grilled Peach Salsa has lime juice, cilantro and fresh charred peaches for a savory and sweet appetizer or condiment.
- 2 ripe peaches pitted and sliced in quarters
- 1/2 red onion diced
- 1 ripe tomato diced
- 1 jalapeno pepper seeded and diced
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- 1/2 lime juiced
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Olive oil / olive oil spray
Preheat a cast iron grill pan (or charcoal / gas grill) on medium high heat.
When the pan or grill is piping hot, brush the peaches with olive oil and place them flesh side down on the grill.
Grill 5 – 8 minutes, rotating if needed, until the peaches are softened but not mushy.
While the peaches are cooking, add the remaining ingredients to a mixing bowl and stir with a wooden spoon until everything is fully combined.
Once the peaches are done cooking, remove them from the grill and transfer them to a cutting board.
Dice the peaches and add them to the bowl.
Toss together and serve.
